Chris Sykes-Director of Golf
Chris brings more than 24 years of leadership experience in sales, business operations, and property management. Prior to coming to Tellico Village, Chris was the Senior Director of Golf at a 1,400-acre resort and country club where he was responsible for the planning,development and management of a $9M golf facility, encompassing golf operations and grounds maintenance with a $10M operating budget and more than 100 employees.
His career in the golf industry has spanned across many environments, including golf course operations, golf and grounds maintenance, sales management, business plan development, budget management, retail, and food and beverage. As Head Golf Course Superintendent at Toqua Golf Club, Chris worked closely with former Director of Golf Jim West for more than 8 years during which time Chris set an excellent example of drive and diligence for his team and displayed his passion for the game of golf, as well as the continued development and improvement of our programs.
Jeff Harrington, PGA-Head Golf Professional, Links at Kahite
Jeff Harrington was introduced to the game of golf at the early age of 5 by his father, Jay Harrington, a lifelong PGA Member and Club Professional. He spent his childhood days going to the golf course with his father, helping out with daily golf shop activities, and playing golf from sun up to sun down. Jeff was recruited to play college golf at Lees McCrae University and went on to finish his college career at Appalachian State. He earned membership in the PGA in 1987 and worked as an Assistant Professional at various golf clubs in North and South Carolina as well as Ohio. In 1991, Jeff was hired as the Head Golf Professional at the DeBordieu Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina where he served for 12 years prior to moving to the Tellico Lake area. Jeff joined the Tellico Village Golf Professional staff in 2012 and currently is the Head Golf Professional at Kahite.
Passing on the knowledge he has learned from a lifetime of golf is his passion and in his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, fitness and watching Cincinnati Bengals football.
Adam Jacob, PGA- Head Golf Professional, Toqua Golf Club
Adam Jacob grew up in New Berlin, Wisconsin and began playing golf at the age thirteen. He played golf through high school and lettered his junior and senior year. After high school, Adam attended college at Ferris State University where he did multiple golf internships at places like Whistling Straights in Kohler, WI, West Brook Country Club in Mansfield, OH and Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs, CA. When graduating from Ferris State University in May 2003 with a degree in Marketing and Golf Management, Adam took his first assistant’s position at Tellico Village. Less than a year later, Adam completed his PGA work and became an official PGA member. Adam has enjoyed his time working with all the Tellico leagues and taking part in the changes at the village over the past fifteen years. In 2017, 2018 & 2019, Adam received the Richard Eller Growth of the Game Award from the Knoxville PGA section for his ways of growing golf at Tellico Village and the community. Adam and his wife Liz have two children and when he’s not on the golf course, he is spending time with his family and friends.
Casey Flenniken, PGA-Head Golf Professional, Tanasi Golf Club
Casey Flenniken is the Head Golf Professional at Tanasi Golf Club. Casey began his tenure at Tellico Village in 2016. Casey is an east Tennessee native and a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, Tennessee. While at Tennessee Wesleyan, Casey was a highly decorated collegiate golfer: AAC 1st Team All Conference 2008-2011, PING All-American 2010, 2011, AAC Team South Member 2011, AAC Conference Player of the Year 2008. After turning professional in 2012, Casey continued his success on and off the course, competing at the national level of the PGA Assistant’s Championship in 2012, 2017, 2018, 2019 and earning the coveted 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, & 2019 Tennessee Section PGA Assistant Professional Player of the Year Award and the 2019 Tennessee Section PGA Player of the Year Award. 2017 & 2018 PGA Tour Knoxville Open Participant. Casey will be participating in the 2019 PGA Professional National Championship.
Casey excels in his instruction ability at all levels. He is currently the Director of Player Development for the Tennessee Wesleyan University men’s & women’s golf teams. Casey’s friendly, outgoing personality coupled with his love for golf and people make him an excellent addition to the award-winning golf professional staff at Tellico Village.
Wells McClure- Golf Course Superintendent, Tanasi Golf Club
Wells McClure was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. During his teenage years, Wells had a successful lawn and landscaping business that would be the beginning of his turf career. Wells has always had a love for the outdoors, most notably hunting, kayaking, and hiking. Wells attended the University of Tennessee where he received his bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences with a concentration in Turfgrass Management. While a student, he worked on multiple internships including working for the University of Tennessee Turfgrass Research Department, for Rarity Point during it’s construction, and for Gettysvue Country Club. Following graduation, Wells moved to Virginia where he was an assistant at two courses (Cannon Ridge and Mattapoint Springs). Wells was the assistant at Toqua for one year before being asked to act as the interim supervisor at Tanasi. Based on this performance, he was promoted to Golf Course Superintendent in August, 2012. He is excited about continuing to improve Tanasi and building his life and family in East Tennessee.
