Tellico Village LGA18 Retains Lake Tellico Challenge Cup

LOUDON, TN – It came down to the very last hole to determine where the Ladies’ Lake Tellico Challenge Cup would reside for the next year. The event, in just its 2nd annual existence, was held at Toqua Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon. This individual net match play tournament pitted twelve lady representatives from Rarity Bay Golf & Country Club against twelve ladies from the hosting Tellico Village Ladies Golf Association 18-Hole league (TVLGA18).

Paired together in the final two matches of the afternoon, Maryann Kuhl and Mary Nowlin came through in the clutch on the 18th hole to secure the victory for Tellico Village. Kuhl converted a net par to win her match two-up. Nowlin finished in style with a net birdie to claw out a hard-fought draw. The victory secured the cup for the second straight year for the Villagers as Rarity Bay is yet to celebrate a win in the cordial rivalry.

The Tellico Village team was captained by Anne Parkhill who oversaw a fun-filled event for all participants capped off with hors d’oeuvres and beverages at the Toqua Pavilion provided by AWE.

TVLGA18 President Cindy Chalfant delivered a speech at the closing ceremonies and dedicated the day to the memory of Gail Kraemer. Gail was a talented, avid golfer and member of the TLVGA18 league. She was the chairperson for the Lake Tellico Challenge Cup prior to her passing in August.
